Tacloban

Tacloban is a city in Eastern Visayas. It is the first in Eastern Visayas to be classified as a Highly Urbanized City. Tacloban is located on Cancabato Bay, in the San Juanico Strait which divides the islands of Leyte and Samar.

Daily flights from Manila with Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines, about a one hour flight. Cebu Pacific have flights to/from Cebu on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday. Many buses go from Manila (both Pasay and Cubao), about 20 hours. Sulpicio has weekly ferry service from Manila, a 30-hour trip but very pleasant.
