Dumaguete

Dumaguete is the capital city and main port of Negros Oriental, the province that occupies the south-eastern half of Negros Island, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. Popularly known as the "City of Gentle People".

The city attracts a considerable number of foreign tourists, particularly Europeans, because of easy ferry access from Cebu City, the availability of beach resorts and dive sites, and the attraction of dolphin and whale watching in nearby Bais Bay.

The city has a domestic airport which provides daily flights to and from Manila and Cebu City through Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines, and Philippine Airlines.

Dumaguete has two seasons, namely; the dry and the wet seasons. The wet season covers the period from June to November, and the dry season starts from December to May, the hottest being April and May. The average maximum temperature is 34.3 °C and the average minimum temperature is 22.9 °C for the past years. The relative humidity of the locality for the past years was 78¾% with the month of December registering the highest.

umaguete is a university town. The population is somewhat more than 100,000 people, and there are some 30,000 students at Silliman University. Silliman is a Protestant University in a predominantly Catholic country, and it is noted as one of the best Universities in Philippines.

Visit the Boulevard, Silliman University Campus, Maxino College in Barangay Bagacay , Maranatha Full Gospel Church (Sunday morning), the Dumaguete Catholic Cathedral.
