Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh is situated at the northernmost tip of Assam. It is a beautiful town situated along the river Brahmaputra. It is the largest tea-exporting town in India. Dibrugarh is about 439 km north-east of Guwahati. The name Dibrugarh is derived from the mouth (mukh) of the river Dibaru or Dibru.

Inhabited mostly by Bengalis, this small town is surrounded by tea gardens and its greeneries. Located along the river Brahmaputra, Dibrugarh is famous for its Assam flavoured tea and is the largest tea exporting town of India. The life of the town is centered around the tea gardens and its produce. The lush green gardens and the women plucking the tea leaves is a wonderful sight to watch. One can visit the tea gardens and amuse oneself going into the process right from plucking the tea leaves till its procession and packaging.
