Auroville

Tour to Auroville India - The small but exotic town of Auroville is located at a distance of 6 km north of Pondicherry. The Mother from the Sri Aurobindo Ashram conceived a town where one could celebrate the spirit of unity and have a spiritual vocation. And that was how Auroville came into being. The town offers a great deal for tourists to do, see and experience. You can rent a rickshaw or a taxi from Pondicherry to get to Auroville. But to acquaint of the entertainment options at Auroville, you need to buy yourself a copy of the Auroville Handbook which is available at the Visitors Centre in the town.

Although originally intended to house 50,000, the actual population today is 2,007, coming from 44 nationalities, 836 of whom are of Indian origin. The community is divided up into neighborhoods with English, Sanskrit, French and Tamil names like Aspiration, Arati, La Ferme, and Isaiambalam.
