Anjuna one of the Beaches of Goa (in India), north of Baga and Calangute, and close to the South of Vagator and Chapora. The nearest town is Mapusa a few kilometers to the east. The Anjuna Beach is rightly referred to as the Freak Capital of the World and happens to be one of the most popular beaches in the Beach Capital of India Goa.
The swaying coconut palms and the soft white sand add to the holiday mood on the shore of the Arabian Sea. Anjuna beach the spot for hippies, parties and techno also boasts of the amazing Albuquerque Mansion. The structure was built way back in 1920. The structure has a beautiful border made up of the octagonal towers. Even the Mangalore tile-roof of the mansion is marvelous.
Anjuna is known throughout North Goa and to travellers from all over the world for its flea market at the Beach, where one can find anything from Indian souvenirs to Trance music. Anjuna is also known as the hippie capital of Goa, although its star seems to be fading as tourism takes hold. The drug-based hippie scene of the 1970s was described in Cleo Odzer's 1995 book Goa Freaks: My Hippie Years in India. But now it has become one of the aging tourist destinations of the state with too many so called "Binktakars" posing a threat on the beaches.
