The new Barcelo Cayo Santa Maria Resort (Estrella)
Since the Cayo Santa Maria Forum is quite brand-new here on TripAdvisor, I thought that I should post whatever information I have gleaned... for those who only visit here on the New Cayo Santa Maria Forum.
The Barcelo Cayo Santa Maria Resort will be the largest hotel complex in Cuba, the hotel was originally scheduled to open this Sept, but now has the opening in Nov/08... with a total of 2700 rooms (as long as Hurricane Ike hasn't done anything to "complicate" the Grand Opening)
They will open the resort in stages. Stage #1 is going to be called "Barcelo Matanzas" with 624 guestrooms.
The second hotel (stage #2), Barcelo Trinidad, was scheduled to be open Jan/09 with 684 guestrooms.
Stage #3 Barcelo Remedios and Stage #4 Barcelo Santiago are scheduled for 2010.
This resort is supposed to be one of the most modern and luxurious resorts in all the Caribbean and a central focal point of the resort complex will feature its own "Pueblo" or town, within the resort with a large variety of bars, a la carte restaurants, a discotheque, a beer garden, entertainment, shops, a Grand Spa and more, all within the resort's own "town".
Eventually, the resort complex will offer a ‘stay at one, play at four’ concept, with a train planned to transport guests between the hotels. Each hotel is named after a different city in Cuba, and the décor is also inspired by the unique flavour of each city.
The four hotels will have their own freeform pools, a la carte restaurants, beachside grills and buffets.
