Suva is the capital of Fiji. It is a pretty relaxed town and a good place to arrange things for the rest of your stay. Suva is on southeast coast of the "main island" of Fuji, Viti Levu. Suva became the capital of Fiji in 1877. Fiji's tallest building, the Reserve Bank of Fiji Building, is in Suva. The Fiji School of Medicine and one of the three campuses of the University of the South Pacific are in Suva. Suva tends to be the major commercial and political centre of Fiji, which Nadi is the major tourist centre.
Suva is a friendly city however do be very careful of pickpockets and thieves. Be very wary of people who approach you asking for your name and where you're from. They often want to lead you to a shop and then try to sell you some overpriced souvenirs they have handcraft themselves. Prices for their goods are very overpriced and you are not obliged to purchase anything from them. Do not let anyone lead you off to another location to see something such as a ship from your country, this is an attempt to isolate you and put you in a weak position, it will result in an attempted scam or outright robbery-remember as anywhere else, offers of anything free are probably anything but free, even in friendly Fiji.
Transportation: Nausori International Airport caters mainly to the domestic market, but can serve smaller international aircraft. It also has service to its immediate Pacific neighbors such as Tuvalu and Tonga.
