Lismore

Lismore is a sub-tropical city in New South Wales, Australia. It is the main population centre in the City of Lismore local government area. It is a major regional centre in the Northern Rivers region of the state.

Lismore is a more residential town than its coastal neighbours. It is surrounded by very pretty coastal hinterland, and it is worthwhile taking one of the scenic drives around the area. It is in some ways the administrative centre of the area-it has the main hospital, fairly large courthouse, as well as a university and medium size [but large by local standards] shopping centre. None of these are really tourist attractions-better shopping can be had in other places. The Wilsons River runs through town-however it is dirty and some people may not wish to swim in it, although it is safe in that there are no crocodiles, or sharks-in spite of the legend of "Hector", a crocodile rumoured to have inhabited the river at one point-he is long gone.

There is a nice big old fashioned playground and park in the centre of town, if the kids needs some exercise. Other attractions include a movie theater, and some shopping. There is a degree of nightlife, mostly owing to the town hosting a university. In general, there is little to do in the town-its mostly a town geared towards the locals.

There are numerous fast food restraunts around the place. The Pie Cart, and old truck that sells hot pies is worth visiting-its at the corner of Molesworth and Magellan streets in the city. Most pubs will have a restraunt or dining room attached.
