Cardwell

Cardwell is a city in Queensland, Australia. Cardwell is the launching pad for a variety of unique natural and cultural experiences. Situated between two World Heritage Areas, the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, Cardwell is an unspoilt seaside town with an amazing outlook over Hinchinbrook Island and the Family Islands. The whole area is rich in cultural heritage, with the Girringun Aboriginal Corporation representing the interests of nine Aborginal tribes in the region. Cardwell lies within Girrimay Country, while Hinchinbrook Island is Bandjin Country. Not far north of Cardwell is the Jumbun Aboriginal Community situated on the edge of the rainforest. The community run eco-cultural tours celebrating and maintaining their rich cultural knowledge of the rainforest.
